Tools Required
J 39400-A Halogen
Leak Detector
Removal Procedure
- Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Remove the EBCM. Refer to
Electronic Brake Control Module Replacement
in Antilock Brake System.
- Loosen the condenser tube
fitting nut (1) from the evaporator tube extension (2).
- Disconnect the condenser tube from the evaporator tube extension.
- Remove the condenser tube
block fitting bolt.
- Disconnect the condenser tube from the condenser.
- Remove the condenser tube retaining clips from the vehicle body.
- Remove the condenser tube.
Installation Procedure
- Install the condenser tube.
- Install the condenser tube retaining clips to the vehicle body.
- Using a lint-free clean, dry cloth, carefully clean the sealing
surfaces of the A/C refrigerant line and the A/C refrigerant component.
- Lightly coat the new O-ring seals with mineral base 525 viscosity
refrigerant oil.
- Install the new O-rings.
- Connect the condenser
tube to the condenser.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the condenser
tube block fitting bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).
- Connect the condenser
tube fitting nut (1) to the evaporator tube extension (2).
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 44 N·m (33 lb ft).
- Install the EBCM. Refer to
Electronic Brake Control Module Replacement
in Antilock Brake System.
- Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A
.
