Tools Required

J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

1. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
2. Remove the A/C compressor. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement .



3. Disconnect the compressor hose quick connect fitting at the discharge hose.



4. Disconnect the compressor hose quick connect fitting at the evaporator extension tube.



5. Remove the compressor hose (2) from the vehicle.

1. Install the compressor hose.



2. Connect the compressor hose quick connect to the evaporator extension tube:

•	Use new O-rings.

•	Lubricate the new O-rings with mineral oil, 525 viscosity.




3. Connect the compressor hose quick connect to the discharge hose:

•	Use new O-rings and seal washers.

•	Lubricate the O-rings and seal washers with mineral oil, 525 viscosity.

4. Install the A/C compressor. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement .
5. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
6. Leak test the fittings of the component using the J 39400-A .
