Removal Procedure

  1. Place a drain pan under the power steering fluid reservoir and gear.
  2. Siphon the fluid from the reservoir to prevent excessive spillage.
  3. Remove the engine shield.
  4. Remove the front fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement in Bumpers.

  5. Object Number: 142019  Size: SH
  6. Remove the cooling pipe retaining clips (1) from the crossmember and from in the engine compartment (3).
  7. Remove the power steering fluid gear outlet hose at the reservoir.
  8. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  9. Reposition the Electronic Brake Control Module/Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (EBCM) assembly to access the power steering fluid cooling pipe connections. Opening of the brake hydraulic system and removal of the EBCM assembly is not necessary to reposition. Refer to Electronic Brake Control Module Replacement in Antilock Brake System.
  10. Lower the vehicle.
  11. Remove the power steering fluid cooling pipe.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the power steering fluid cooling pipe.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  3. Position the Electronic Brake Control Module/Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (EBCM) assembly. Refer to Electronic Brake Control Module Replacement in Antilock Brake System.
  4. Lower the vehicle.
  5. Install the power steering fluid gear outlet hose at the reservoir.

  7. Install the cooling pipe retaining clips to the crossmember (1) and in the engine compartment (3).
  8. Install the front fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement in Bumpers.
  9. Install the engine shield.
  10. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
