Removal Procedure

  1. Place a drain pan under the power steering fluid reservoir.
  2. Siphon the power steering fluid from the reservoir to prevent excessive spillage.
  3. Remove the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement

  4. Object Number: 143146  Size: SH
  5. Remove the gear inlet hose connection from the power steering pump.
  6. Remove the fluid reservoir inlet hose clamp.
  7. Remove the fluid reservoir inlet hose from the power steering pump.
  8. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  9. Remove the engine shield.

  11. Remove the AIR injection crossover pipe support bracket bolts.
  12. Remove the AIR injection crossover pipe support bracket.
  13. Remove the power steering pump bolts.
  14. Remove the power steering pump.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the power steering pump.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the power steering pump bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pump bolts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  5. Install the AIR injection crossover pipe support bracket.
  6. Install the AIR injection crossover pipe support bracket bolts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the AIR injection crossover pipe support bracket bolts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  8. Install the engine shield.
  9. Lower the vehicle.

  10. Object Number: 143146  Size: SH
  11. Install the gear inlet hose connection to the power steering pump.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the gear inlet hose connection to the power steering pump to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

  13. Install the fluid reservoir inlet hose.
  14. Install the fluid reservoir inlet hose clamp to the power steering pump.
  15. Install the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement
  16. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
