Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  2. Object Number: 174777  Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the vehicle speed sensor electrical connector.
  4. Remove the vehicle speed sensor bolt (46).
  5. Remove the vehicle speed sensor (45) and the seal (44). Use hand pressure to rotate the sensor back and forth while pulling outward. Do not pry on the sensor.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the seal (44) to the speed sensor (45).
  2. Install the vehicle speed sensor to the transmission.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the speed sensor attaching bolt (46).
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the speed sensor bolt to 9 N·m (78 lb in).

  6. Connect the vehicle speed sensor electrical connector.
  7. Lower the vehicle.
