Removal Procedure
- Raise the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the hose clamp
from the AIR pump supply hose.
- Disconnect the air hose from the AIR pump.
- Remove the horn assembly. Refer to
Horn Replacement
in Body and Assessories.
- Mark the location of the air pump in the bracket prior to removal.
- Remove the AIR pump bracket to frame nuts.
- Disconnect the AIR pump electrical connector.
- Remove the AIR pump (1) assembly from the vehicle.
Disassembly Procedure
- Remove the wiring harness
plug from the assembly bracket (6).
- Remove the hose clamp.
- Disconnect the air intake hose.
- Remove the AIR pump bracket bolts to the meter assembly.
- Remove the AIR pump (2) from the secondary AIR pump dampening
ring (4).
Assembly Procedure
- Align the secondary air
pump in the original position.
- Install the secondary air pump (2) to the secondary air pump dampening
ring (4).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the AIR
pump to bracket bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Connect the air intake hose.
- Install the hose clamps.
- Connect the wiring harness plug to the assembly bracket.
Installation Procedure
- Install the AIR pump (1)
assembly to the vehicle.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or

- Install the AIR
pump bracket to frame nuts.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).
- Install the horn assembly. Refer to
Horn Replacement
in Body and Assessories.
- Connect the AIR pump electrical connector.
- Connect the air hose to the AIR pump.
- Install the hose clamp.
- Lower the vehicle.
