Removal Procedure

  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  2. Object Number: 60886  Size: SH
  3. Remove the hose clamp from the AIR pump supply hose.
  4. Disconnect the air hose from the AIR pump.
  5. Remove the horn assembly. Refer to Horn Replacement in Body and Assessories.
  6. Mark the location of the air pump in the bracket prior to removal.
  7. Remove the AIR pump bracket to frame nuts.
  8. Disconnect the AIR pump electrical connector.
  9. Remove the AIR pump (1) assembly from the vehicle.

Disassembly Procedure

  1. Remove the wiring harness plug from the assembly bracket (6).
  2. Remove the hose clamp.
  3. Disconnect the air intake hose.
  4. Remove the AIR pump bracket bolts to the meter assembly.
  5. Remove the AIR pump (2) from the secondary AIR pump dampening ring (4).

Assembly Procedure

  1. Align the secondary air pump in the original position.
  2. Install the secondary air pump (2) to the secondary air pump dampening ring (4).
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the AIR pump to bracket bolts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  6. Connect the air intake hose.
  7. Install the hose clamps.
  8. Connect the wiring harness plug to the assembly bracket.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the AIR pump (1) assembly to the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the AIR pump bracket to frame nuts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  5. Install the horn assembly. Refer to Horn Replacement in Body and Assessories.
  6. Connect the AIR pump electrical connector.
  7. Connect the air hose to the AIR pump.
  8. Install the hose clamp.
  9. Lower the vehicle.
