Removal Procedure

Caution: Turn OFF the ignition before inserting fingers into the throttle bore. Unexpected movement of the throttle blade could cause personal injury.

  1. Remove the air intake ducts.
  2. Inspect the throttle body bore and the throttle valve plate for any deposits. It is necessary to open the throttle valve in order to inspect all of the surfaces.
  3. Notice: Do not use any solvent that contains Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK). This solvent may damage fuel system components.

  4. Clean the throttle body bore and the throttle valve plate by using a clean shop towel with GM Top Engine Cleaner, P/N 1052626, or AC-Delco Carburetor Tune-Up Conditioner, P/N X66-P, or an equivalent product.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the air intake ducts.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Tighten the air intake duct clamps.
  4. Tighten
Tighten the air intake duct clamps to 3 N·m (27 lb in).

  5. Ensure that there are no air leaks.
