Removal Procedure

    Caution: Gasoline or gasoline vapors are highly flammable. A fire could occur if an ignition source is present. Never drain or store gasoline or diesel fuel in an open container, due to the possibility of fire or explosion. Have a dry chemical (Class B) fire extinguisher nearby.

  1. Loosen the fuel filler cap to relieve the system pressure.
  2. Caution: Wear safety glasses when using compressed air in order to prevent eye injury.

  3. Using compressed air blow out dirt from the quick connect fittings.
  4. Disconnect the purge line quick-connect fittings on both sides of the service port by squeezing the plastic release tabs (2,3).
  5. Remove the EVAP service port retaining nut (4).
  6. Remove the service port from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Mount the service port to the bracket.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the EVAP service port retaining nut (4).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 4 N·m (35 lb in).

  5. Clean any contamination from the male line ends, then apply a few drops of clean engine oil.
  6. Connect the purge lines to both sides of the service port.
  7. Tighten the fuel filler cap.
