Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 721455  Size: SH
  1. Loosen the fuel filler cap in order to relieve the system pressure.
  2. Remove the intake plenum. Refer to Intake Plenum Replacement in Engine Mechanical-3.0L (L81).
  3. Remove the valve bracket mounting bolt (2).
  4. Disconnect the harness connector from the valve (1).
  5. Disconnect the purge line from the EVAP service port.
  6. Remove the valve to gain access to the vacuum source line.
  7. Remove the vacuum source line from the valve and discard the clamp.
  8. Remove the purge valve.

Installation Procedure

  1. Connect the vacuum source line to the valve using a new clamp.
  2. Install the valve.

  3. Object Number: 721455  Size: SH
  4. Connect the purge line to the EVAP service port.
  5. Connect the harness connector (1).
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the EVAP canister purge valve bracket mounting bolt (2).
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 8 N·m (71 lb in)

  9. Install the intake plenum. Refer to Intake Plenum Replacement in Engine Mechanical-3.0L (L81).
  10. Tighten the fuel filler cap.
