Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the wiring
harness from the camshaft position (CMP) sensor (1).
- Remove the A/C low pressure line bracket.
- Remove the hold down bolts for the wiring harness to the intake
plenum to gain access to the sensor.
- Remove the fastening bolt for the CMP sensor.
- Remove the CMP sensor and the O-ring seal from the camshaft cover.
Installation Procedure
- Thoroughly clean the mating
surfaces of the CMP sensor (1) and the camshaft cover.
- Install the CMP sensor with a new O-ring seal into the camshaft
cover.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the fastening
bolt for the CMP sensor.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 8 N·m (71 lb in).
- Install the hold down bolts for the wiring harness to the intake
plenum.
- Install the A/C low pressure line bracket.
- Connect the wiring harness to the CMP sensor. Ensure the correct
cable routing.
