Makes 🢒 Cadillac 🢒 2001 🢒 Catera 🢒 Engine 🢒 Engine Mechanical - 3.0L (L81) 🢒 Crankshaft Balancer Replacement

Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  3. Remove the 4 engine splash shield bolts.
  4. Remove the engine splash shield.

    5. Object Number: 217342 Size: SH
  5. Remove the crankshaft balancer bolts.
  6. Remove the crankshaft balancer from the crankshaft sprocket.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 217342 Size: SH
  1. Install the crankshaft balancer to the crankshaft sprocket.

    2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  2. Install the crankshaft balancer bolts.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the crankshaft balancer bolts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  3. Install the engine splash shield.
  4. Install the 4 engine splash shield bolts.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the engine splash shield bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  5. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  6. Lower the vehicle.
