Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
- Remove the muffler to resonator clamp nuts (1, 2)
- Remove the right exhaust muffler pipe flange bolts (1).
- Remove the right exhaust muffler pipe hanger insulator retainers from the support rods.
- Rotate the right exhaust muffler and remove the right exhaust muffler from the resonator.
- Remove the resonator hanger insulator retainers from the resonator support rods.
- Remove the hanger insulators from the resonator.
- Rotate and remove the resonator from the left muffler.
Installation Procedure
- Install the resonator to the left muffler.
- Install the hanger insulators to the resonator.
- Install the resonator hanger insulator retainers to the resonator support rods.
- Install the right exhaust muffler to the resonator.
- Install the right exhaust muffler pipe insulator hangers to the support rods and the right exhaust muffler.
- Install the insulator hanger retainers to the support rods.
- Install the exhaust muffler pipe flange bolts (1).
- Install the muffler to resonator clamp nuts (1, 2).
- Inspect the exhaust system clearances.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Inspect the exhaust system for leaks.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the exhaust muffler pipe flange bolts (1) to 40 N·m
(30 lb ft).
Tighten
Tighten the muffler to resonator clamp nuts (1, 2) to
25 N·m (18 lb ft).
