Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 158549  Size: SH
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove 4 engine splash shield bolts.
  3. Remove engine splash shield.
  4. Remove the AIR injection crossover pipe bracket nut (6) from the generator mounting bolt. It may be necessary to hold the generator bolt on the back side of the generator when removing the nut (6).
  5. Remove the AIR injection crossover pipe bushing nut (1), located on the left side of the engine, from the bracket.
  6. Remove the AIR injection crossover pipe clamps from the rubber hose connections (2).
  7. Remove the AIR injection crossover pipe from the rubber hose connections.

  9. Remove the A/C compressor hose strap bolt (1).

  10. Object Number: 158549  Size: SH
  11. Position the AIR injection crossover pipe (4) out of the way to enable removal of the drive belt.
  12. Use a 15 mm wrench on center bolt of the tensioner pulley (5) and rotate clockwise to release drivebelt tension.
  13. Slide the belt (7) from the water pump pulley and remove.

Installation Procedure

  1. Refer to the drive belt routing diagram to install the serpentine drive belt.
  2. Clean the drive belt surfaces and accessory drive pulleys.
  3. Important: Ensure the drive belt is properly aligned and seated into the grooves of the accessory drive pulleys.

  4. Rotate the drive belt tensioner clockwise.
  5. Route the drive belt over the top of the water pump pulley last.
  6. Release the drive belt tensioner and inspect the drive belt for proper seating in the accessory drive pulleys.

  8. Reposition the AIR injection crossover pipe (4).
  9. Install the AIR injection crossover pipe to the rubber hose connections (2).
  10. Install the AIR injection crossover pipe clamps to the rubber hose connections.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  12. Install the A/C compressor hose strap bolt (1).
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the A/C compressor hose support strap bolt to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  14. Install the AIR injection crossover pipe bushing nut (6) to the generator bolt.
  15. Tighten
    Tighten the AIR injection crossover pipe bushing nut to 12 N·m (108 lb in).

  16. Counterhold the generator bolt on the back side of the generator to tighten the AIR injection crossover pipe support bracket nut to the generator bolt.
  17. Tighten
    Tighten the AIR injection crossover pipe support bracket nut (generator bolt) to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).

  18. Install the engine splash shield.
  19. Install the 4 engine splash shield bolts.
  20. Tighten
    Tighten the engine splash shield bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  21. Lower the vehicle.
