Removal Procedure
- Drain the cooling system.
Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling

- Remove the radiator inlet hose clamp from the radiator.
- Remove the radiator inlet hose from the radiator.
- Disconnect the cooling fan control switch electrical connector.
- Remove the cooling fan control switch with the J 42865
.
Installation Procedure
- Install the upper cooling fan control switch.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the cooling fan control switch
with the J 42865
.
Tighten
Tighten the cooling fan control switch to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).
- Connect the cooling fan control switch electrical connector.
- Install the radiator inlet hose to the radiator.
- Install the radiator inlet hose clamp to the radiator.
- Fill the cooling system. Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
.

Removal Procedure
- Drain the cooling system. Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the engine splash shield retaining bolts and the engine
splash shield.
- Disconnect the cooling fan control switch electrical connector.
- Remove the cooling fan control switch with the J 42865
.
Installation Procedure
- Install the cooling fan control switch.
- Install the cooling fan control switch with the J 42865
.
Tighten
Tighten the cooling fan control switch to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).
- Connect the cooling fan control switch electrical connector.
- Install the engine splash shield.
- Install the engine splash shield retaining bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the engine splash shield retaining bolts to 10 N·m
(89 lb in).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Fill the cooling system. Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
.
