When you first turn ON the ignition, the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic and seat belt pretensioner module (SDM) performs tests to diagnose critical malfunctions within itself . During one portion of these tests, the SDM checks to ensure that it is properly configured for this vehicle. Then, the SDM proceeds with the RESISTANCE MEASUREMENT test to measure the deployment loop resistances to ensure that they are within their respective normal resistance ranges.
When the ignition voltage is within the normal operating voltage range, the SDM performs the internal malfunction checks and the SDM checks to ensure that it is properly configured for this vehicle.
The SDM is not properly configured for this vehicle.
The SDM turns ON the AIR BAG warning lamp.
You can use the scan tool to properly configure the SDM. Once the SDM is properly configured, the DTC will clear.
This DTC indicates that the SDM is not configured for use in this vehicle.
