The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.
Condition/Concern:
Some Technicians may experience a no audio condition after replacing the radio. Some replacement radios contain software that is not compatible with Catera.
Recommendation/Instructions:
Using the Tech 2 Scan Tool, read the Radio Control Head software level. If the Tech 2 displays: DeVille, the radio has the correct software for Catera. If the Tech 2 displays: Seville/Eldorado, the radio software is not compatible with Catera and the radio will need to be replaced again.
Note:: There are no external means of determining the correct radio software. It may take several radio replacements before receiving a radio with the correct software.
Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
