For 1990-2009 cars only

The following symptoms refer to mechanical operation of power seat adjusters with a power recliner. For electrical diagnosis refer to Diagnostic System Check - Power Seat Systems .

  1. One adjuster reaches maximum horizontal position before the other adjuster.
  2. Adjuster may be out of phase. Refer to Seat Adjuster Phase Adjustment .

  3. Seat does not move freely, the seat has to be lubricated.
  4. Lubricate with Multi-Purpose Lubricant, Superlube® (GM P/N 12346241 or equivalent).

  5. One adjuster will not move forward and backward. Driveshafts may be jammed or damaged. Refer to Power Seat Adjuster Mechanism Replacement .

Seat Lubrication Procedure

Lubricate the following points:


Object Number: 737248  Size: SH
    • Upper rail on both sides (4)

Object Number: 737244  Size: SH
    • Lower rail on both sides (3)
    • Rack for the length adjuster (1)
    • Sector gear for the height adjuster (2)

Important: Seat adjuster in the front and up most position. Lubricate the inner and outer rail in the same procedure.
