Heated Seat Inoperative Front

  1. Turn the ignition on.
  2. Turn the driver seat heater switch to positions 1-5.
  3. Turn the passenger seat heater switch to positions 1-5.

Do both front heated seats operate normally?

Test and repair for an open or high resistance in the seat heater switch ignition voltage circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs or Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test and repair for an open or high resistance in the seat heater battery voltage circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs or Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Using a DMM backprobe the heated seat temperature control circuit terminal in the inoperative seat cushion heater connector. Refer to Probing Electrical Connectors and Measuring Voltage in Wiring Systems.
  2. Turn the ignition on.
  3. Turn the inoperative seat heater switch to positions 1-5.

Does the DMM indicate voltage is present and increases as the switch is turned from positions 1-5?

During the previous step does the voltage measurement remain equal to battery positive voltage?

  1. Disconnect the connector between the seat cushion heater and the seat back heater.
  2. Test and repair the seat cushion heater ground circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Driver Seat and Passenger Seat Back Cushion Heater Replacement or Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Using a DMM backprobe the heated seat on/off control circuit terminal in the inoperative seat cushion heater connector. Refer to Probing Electrical Connectors and Measuring Voltage in Wiring Systems.
  2. Turn the ignition on.
  3. Turn the inoperative seat heater switch to positions 1-5.

Does the DMM indicate voltage is present from switch positions 1 to 5?

  1. Disconnect the connector between the seat cushion heater and the seat back cushion heater.
  2. Test continuity through the seat back cushion heater ground circuit and heater element circuit.

Does the seat back cushion heater have continuity through both circuits?
