Verify that the driver power window is inoperative.

Does the driver power window operate properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Disconnect the driver power window regulator motor.
  2. With a test lamp, probe between the up switch signal circuit at the harness connector of the driver power window regulator motor and a good ground.
  3. Press the driver window switch to the up position while observing the test lamp.
  4. With a test lamp, probe between the down switch signal circuit at the harness connector of the driver power window regulator motor and a good ground.
  5. Press the driver window switch to the up position while observing the test lamp.

Did the test lamp illuminate when the switch was pressed to the up position and the down position?

Did the test lamp stay illuminated for either of the circuits?

Test the ground circuit to the driver power window regulator motor for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the switched ignition signal circuit to the driver power window regulator motor for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the switched ignition signal circuit to the driver power window regulator motor for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the battery positive voltage circuit to the driver power window regulator motor for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the appropriate power window regulator motor switch signal circuit to the driver power window regulator motor for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the short to voltage in the appropriate power window regulator motor switch signal circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Reprogram any window regulators if any were disconnected. Refer to Window Motor Programming - Express Function .
  2. Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
