Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check for Starting and Charging?

Start the engine.

Does the charge lamp indicator remain illuminated?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the charging lamp indicator circuit from the generator.
  3. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.

Does the charge lamp indicator remain illuminated?

Go to Step 4

Go to Charging System Test

Test the charging lamp indicator circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 5

Inspect for poor connections at the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 7

Replace the IPC. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.

Did you complete the replacement?
