Did you perform the Radio/Audio System Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Remove the radio and disconnect the radio connector.
  2. Turn the headlight switch to the PARK position.
  3. Rotate the IP dimmer control dial UP.
  4. Measure the voltage at terminal E5.

Is the voltage within the specified range?

12-14 V

Go to Step 3

Measure the resistance from terminal F5 to ground.

Is the resistance less than the specified value?

0.5 ohms

Go to Step 5

  1. Remove the headlight switch.
  2. Measure the resistance between the headlight switch connector terminal 2 and radio connector terminal E5.

Is the resistance less than the specified value?

0.5 ohms

Go to Step 7

  1. Replace the radio and perform the set up procedure.
  2. Install a scan tool.
  3. Select RADIO THEFT from the SPECIAL FUNCTIONS menu.
  4. Follow the instructions on the screen.

Did you complete the replacement?

Locate and repair an open or high resistance condition in the ground circuit (F49, F100).

Is the repair complete?

Replace the headlight switch.

Is the replacement complete?

Locate and repair an open or high resistance in the illumination signal circuit (RB1, RB40).

Is the repair complete?

  1. Reassemble all components/connectors removed in previous steps.
  2. Verify that the radio display illuminates.

Does the radio display illuminate?
