Do the windshield wipers operate properly when the windshield wiper/washer switch is in the wash position?

  1. Disconnect the windshield wiper motor relay K8.
  2. Connect a test light from the washer switch signal circuit terminal in the wiper motor relay harness connector to ground.
  3. Turn the ignition on.
  4. Pull the windshield wiper washer switch to the wash position.

Does the test light illuminate?

  1. Disconnect the windshield wiper/washer switch connector.
  2. Test and repair the washer switch signal circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Testing for Continuity and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Replace the windshield wiper/washer switch. Refer to Windshield Wiper and Washer Switch Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column-Tilt.

Replace the windshield wiper motor relay K8.

  1. Disconnect the windshield washer pump connector.
  2. Connect a test light from the washer switch signal circuit terminal in the washer pump connector to ground.
  3. Turn the ignition on.
  4. Pull the windshield wiper washer switch to the wash position.

Does the test light illuminate?

Repair the windshield washer control circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test and repair the windshield washer pump ground circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Testing for Continuity and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Disconnect the inoperative windshield washer nozzle connector.
  2. Connect a test light from the accessory voltage circuit terminal in the windshield washer nozzle connector to ground.
  3. Turn the ignition switch on.

Repair the open or high resistance in the accessory voltage circuit to the windshield washer nozzle. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
