Did you review the Wiper/Washer System Circuit Description and perform the necessary inspections?

  1. Disconnect the windshield wiper motor relay K8.
  2. Remove the WIPER fuse #9.
  3. Connect a DMM from the wiper motor relay harness connector interval switch signal circuit terminal, to the accessory voltage circuit fuse terminal.
  4. Turn the windshield wiper/washer switch to the delay position.
  5. Measure the resistance through the delay and interval switches and circuits while rotating the interval switch through the adjustment range.

Is the resistance within the specified values?

0.68K-5K ohms

Go to Step  8

  1. Disconnect the windshield wiper/washer switch connector.
  2. Turn the windshield wiper/washer switch to the delay position.
  3. Measure the resistance through the delay switch.

Is the resistance within the specified values.

0-2 ohms

Go to Step  4

  1. Disconnect the interval switch connector.
  2. Measure the resistance through the interval switch.
  3. Rotate the interval switch through the adjustment range.

Is the resistance within the specified values?

0.68K-5K ohms

Test and repair the delay switch signal circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Testing for Continuity and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open or high resistance in the interval switch signal circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the windshield wiper/washer switch. Refer to Windshield Wiper and Washer Switch Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column-Tilt.

Test and repair the accessory voltage circuit to the windshield wiper motor position switch for an open or high resistance. Refer to Testing for Continuity and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the windshield wiper motor relay.
