Schematic Reference: Backup Lamp Schematics

Did you perform the Lighting System Diagnostic System Check?

Go to Step 2

Go to Diagnostic System Check - Lighting Systems

1. Place the ignition switch in the ON position.
2. Place the automatic transmission in Park.
3. Verify that the backup lamps are always on.

Are the backup lamps inoperative?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

1. Locate a short to B+ in the power supply for the backup lamp. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.
2. Repair the short to B+ in the power supply for the backup lamp. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Has the repair been made?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 4

Replace or adjust the automatic transmission range switch. . Refer to Manual Shift Shaft Position Switch Replacement in Automatic Transmission.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 5

1. Connect all connectors and components that were previously disconnected.
2. Verify that the backup lamps operate properly.

Do the backup lamps operate properly?

System OK
