The receiver/dehydrator is located on the LH of the vehicle behind the front grille.
The receiver/dehydrator receives refrigerant from the condenser. The state of the refrigerant exiting the condenser is mostly liquid, but will carry some refrigerant vapors called flash gases. The receiver/dehydrator is a holding tank that allows the flash gases to finish condensing into a liquid, before the refrigerant flows through the liquid line to the Thermal Expansion Valve.
The receiver/dehydrator also functions as a moisture separator and as a compressor discharge pulsation dampener. A desiccant filter, mounted inside the receiver/dehydrator, acts as a drying agent for any moisture or solids that may have accumulated in the A/C system.
