Removal Procedure

Caution: An electric fan under the hood can start up even when the engine is not running and can injure you. Keep hands, clothing and tools away from any underhood electric fan.

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.

  2. Object Number: 141940  Size: SH
  3. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging in HVAC with Automatic A/C.
  4. Remove the A/C condenser. Refer to Condenser Replacement in HVAC with Automatic A/C.
  5. Disconnect the fan connectors.
  6. Remove the fans from the radiator support:
  7. • Tilt the fans rearward to unseat the upper retainers (2).
    • Lift the fans to unseat the lower retainers.

  8. Remove the fan blade clips (1).
  9. Remove the fan blades.
  10. Remove the fan motor bolts.
  11. Remove the fan motors from the fan shrouds.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the fan motors to the fan shrouds.
  2. Install the fan motor bolts until fully seated and not stripped.

  3. Object Number: 141939  Size: SH
  4. Install the fan blades.
  5. Install the fan blade retainer clips (1).

  6. Object Number: 389846  Size: MH
  7. Install the fans (1) to the radiator support:
  8. • Seat the fans into the lower retainers.
    • Tilt the fans forward to seat in the upper retainers.
  9. Connect the fan connectors.
  10. Install the A/C condenser. Refer to Condenser Replacement in HVAC with Automatic A/C.
  11. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  12. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging in HVAC with Automatic A/C.
