Ignition Coil Replacement RH Side

Tools Required

J 43301 Coil Pack Remover

Removal Procedure

  1. Relieve the fuel system pressure.

  2. Object Number: 345360  Size: SH

    Important: Counterhold the fuel hose connections when loosening to prevent damage to the fuel rail.

  3. Disconnect the fuel supply hose from the intake manifold.
  4. Disconnect the fuel return hose from the intake manifold.
  5. Unclip and reposition the heater hoses from the retainer.
  6. Remove the heater hose retainer bracket bolt from the intake plenum.
  7. Remove the heater hose retainer bracket.
  8. Disconnect the coil pack electrical connector.
  9. Remove the coil pack retainer bolts.

  10. Object Number: 411471  Size: SH

    Important: Do not overtighten the J 43301 .

  11. Thread the J 43301 into the coil pack.
  12. With even pressure, lift and remove the coil pack.
  13. Remove the J 43301 .

Installation Procedure

  1. Inspect the coil pack seals and spark plug boots for damage or wear.
  2. Replace as necessary.


    Object Number: 444014  Size: SH
  3. Align the spark plug boots with the spark plugs.
  4. Carefully press and seat the coil pack in place.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the coil pack retainer bolts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the coil pack retainer bolts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  8. Connect the coil pack electrical connector.
  9. Install the heater hose retainer bracket to the intake plenum.
  10. Install the heater hose retainer bracket bolt.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the heater hose retainer bracket bolt to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  12. Install and secure the heater hoses to the retainer.

    Important: Counterhold the fuel hose connections when tightening to prevent damage to the fuel rail.

  14. Connect the fuel return hose to the intake manifold.
  15. Tighten
    Tighten the fuel return hose to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  16. Connect the fuel supply hose to the intake manifold.
  17. Tighten
    Tighten the fuel supply hose to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

J 43301 Coil Pack Remover

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 345354  Size: SH
  1. Remove the wiring channel bolts (1) from the intake plenum.
  2. Position the wiring channel out of the way.
  3. Disconnect the coil pack electrical connector.
  4. Remove the coil pack retainer bolts.

  5. Object Number: 411471  Size: SH

    Important: Do not overtighten the J 43301 .

  6. Thread the J 43301 into the coil pack.
  7. With even pressure, lift and remove the coil pack.

  8. Object Number: 411468  Size: SH
  9. Remove the J 43301 .

Installation Procedure

  1. Inspect the coil pack seals and spark plug boots for damage or wear.
  2. Replace as necessary

  3. Align the spark plug boots with the spark plugs.
  4. Carefully press and seat the coil pack in place.

  10. Reposition the wiring channel.
  11. Install the wiring channel bolts (1).
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the wiring channel bolts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).
