Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 168289 Size: SH
  1. Slide sunscreen all the way rearward.
  2. Remove the sunroof selector knob, if equipped.
  3. Remove the potentiometer by releasing tabs (push inward), if equipped.
  4. Remove the dome and reading lamp (snap out).
  5. Remove the electrical connectors from dome and reading lamp.
  6. Remove the screws from sunroof actuator motor cover.
  7. Remove the sunroof actuator motor cover, pull down and forward to release actuator motor cover from headliner.

  8. Remove sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
  9. Remove sunshade retainers. Refer to Sunshade Anchor Replacement .
  10. Remove headliner opening finish molding (2) , start at opening of headliner finish molding and pull away from headliner.
  11. Remove windshield garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Garnish Molding Replacement in Stationary Windows.
  12. Remove the front seat headrest. Refer to Front Seat Head Restraint Replacement in Seats.
  13. Position the front seats in the forward position.
  14. Remove center pillar upper finish panel. Refer to Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
  15. Remove roof rail courtesy reading lamps. Refer to Roof Side Rail Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  16. Remove rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement in Seats.
  17. Remove rear window upper garnish molding. Refer to Rear Window Garnish Molding Replacement in Stationary Windows.
  18. Remove rear quarter trim upper finish panel. Refer to Rear Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
  19. Remove headliner (1) through right rear door.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 168283 Size: SH
  1. Install the headliner (1) through right rear door.
  2. Install the rear quarter trim upper finish panel. Refer to Rear Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
  3. Install the front seat headrest. Refer to Front Seat Head Restraint Replacement in Seats.
  4. Install the rear window upper garnish molding. Refer to Rear Window Garnish Molding Replacement in Stationary Windows.
  5. Install the rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement in Seats.
  6. Install the roof rail courtesy reading lamps. Refer to Roof Side Rail Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  7. Install the center pillar upper finish panel. Refer to Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
  8. Position the front seats to there original position.
  9. Install the windshield garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Garnish Molding Replacement in Stationary Windows.
  10. Install the headliner opening finish molding (2).
  11. Install the sunshade retainers. Refer to Sunshade Anchor Replacement .
  12. Install the sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .

  13. Install the sunroof actuator motor cover to the headliner.

    14. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  14. Install the screws to the sunroof actuator motor cover.

    15. Tighten
    Tighten sunroof actuator motor cover screws until fully seated but not stripped.

  15. Install the electrical connectors to the dome and reading lamp.
  16. Install the dome and reading lamp (snap in place).
  17. Install the potentiometer (snap in place), if equipped.
  18. Install the sunroof selector knob, if equipped.
  19. Close sunscreen panel.
