Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the front seats. Refer to Seat Replacement or to Seat Replacement in Seats.
  2. Remove the upper floor console. Refer to Console Replacement - Upper in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  3. Remove the lower floor console. Refer to Console Replacement - Lower in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  4. Remove the center vent duct screw.
  5. Remove the center vent duct.
  6. Remove the instrument panel sound insulator.
  7. Remove the self-locking tabs to release sound insulator.

  8. Remove the center pillar lower molding by pulling rearward.
  9. Remove the carpet retainer. Refer to Carpet Retainer Replacement .
  10. Remove the hinge pillar trim finish panel. Refer to Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement .
  11. Remove the carpet.

Installation Procedure

    Caution: In order to avoid personal injury or vehicle damage when you repair or replace the carpet, use the same thickness and material size as the original installation. Always return the carpet to the original location.

  1. Install the carpet.
  2. Install the hinge pillar trim finish panel. Refer to Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement .
  3. Install the carpet retainer. Refer to Carpet Retainer Replacement .
  4. Install the center pillar lower molding.
  5. Install the center pillar lower molding by snapping in place.

  6. Install the instrument panel sound insulator.
  7. Install the self-locking tabs to release sound insulator.

  8. Install the center vent duct.
  9. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  10. Install the center vent duct screws.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the screws until fully seated and not stripped.

  12. Install the lower floor console. Refer to Console Replacement - Lower in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  13. Install the upper floor console. Refer to Console Replacement - Upper in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  14. Remove the front seats. Refer to Seat Replacement in Seats.
