Setting the LH or RH front side door lock switch to the LOCK position provides an input signal to the body control module (BCM) which in turn provides a lock output (ground) signal to the lock coil of the door lock relay.
The relay energizes and B+ is supplied to all of the side door lock actuators when ground applies to the door lock relay lock coil. This causes them to energize and to lock all the doors.
The unlocking operation is similar to the locking operation except that the polarity of the voltage applied to the side door lock actuators is reversed.
Setting the LH or RH front side door lock switch to the UNLOCK position provides an input signal to the BCM which in turns provides the following two unlock outputs:
• | One unlock output signal goes to the driver door unlock relay. |
• | The other unlock output signal goes to the door unlock relay. |
The following occurs when ground is applied to the driver door unlock relay coil:
• | The relay energizes. |
• | B+ is supplied to the LH front side door lock actuator. |
This causes it to energize and unlock the driver door:
The following occurs when ground is applied to the door unlock relay coil:
• | The relay energizes. |
• | B+ is provided to the RH front side door lock actuator. |
• | B+ is provided to the LH rear side door lock actuator. |
• | B+ is provided to the RH rear side door lock actuator. |
This causes them to energize and unlock the passenger door and both of the rear doors.
The driver door has a key disarm driver switch. Using the key disarm driver switch provides an input to the BCM. The BCM uses this input to activate the central door unlock feature. Only the driver door unlocks if the key in the door key cylinder is rotated to the unlock position and held for less than 1.5 seconds. All vehicle doors unlock and the fuel door unlocks if the key is held in place for more than 1.5 seconds.
The BCM locks and unlocks all the doors by the following methods:
• | LH front side door lock switch activation. |
• | RH front side door lock switch activation. |
• | Central door unlocking enabled. |
B+ is supplied to the stop lamp switch by fuse #2. The stop lamp switch feeds B+ to the transmission control selector switch. Ground is provided to the transmission control selector switch from G103.
When the transmission is shifted out of the PARK position, terminal B01 of the BCM connector C1 is grounded. When the BCM detects that this terminal has been grounded, it internally grounds terminal D02 of connector C2. This energizes the door lock relay. All of the side door lock actuators activate and lock all the doors.
When the transmission is shifted into the PARK position, ground is removed from terminal B01 of the BCM connector C1. When the BCM detects that the ground has been removed from this terminal, it internally grounds terminals C10 and C11 of connector C2. Terminal C10 energizes the driver door unlock relay which unlocks the driver's door. Terminal C11 energizes the door unlock relay which unlocks the remaining three doors.
