Did you perform the Content Theft Deterrent System Check?

Go to Step 2

Go to Diagnostic System Check - Theft Deterrent

  1. Install the scan tool.
  2. Select BODY CONTROL MODULE.
  3. Select MISCELLANEOUS TEST from the Output Control menu.
  4. Select SECURITY TELLTALE.
  5. Press the ON button then press the OFF button and monitor the SECURITY indicator lamp.

Did the SECURITY indicator lamp light?

Go to Step 3

Inspect for poor connections at the BCM.

Was a problem found and corrected?

--

Go to Diagnostic System Check - Theft Deterrent

Go to Step 4

  1. Inspect all the power circuits to the BCM.
  2. Inspect all the ground circuits to the BCM.
  3. Replace the BCM if the circuits are OK, and if no poor connections were found. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control Module.

Is the replacement complete?

  1. Disconnect the BCM connector C2.
  2. Disconnect the connector from the gauge cluster.
  3. Using DMM J 39200 on the ohms scale, measure the resistance in circuit XP840, between terminal C06 of the BCM and terminal 23 of the gauge cluster.

Is the resistance less than the specified value?

5 ohms

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 7

  1. Remove the gauge cluster.
  2. Inspect the security indicator bulb.
  3. Inspect the printed circuit.
  4. Repair as necessary.

Does the security telltale now illuminate?

  1. Locate an open or a high resistance in circuit XP840.
  2. Repair the open or the high resistance in circuit XP840.

Is the repair complete?
