  1. Turn the head lamp switch to the HEAD position.
  2. Verify that the low beam headlamps operate properly.

Do the low beam headlamps operate properly when the headlamp switch is turned to the HEAD position?

Go to Step 4

Go to Headlamps Inoperative - Low Beams

  1. Turn ON the high beam headlamps.
  2. Verify that the high beam headlamps operate properly.
  3. Also verify that the high beam indicator operates properly.

Do the high beam headlamps and the high beam indicator operate properly?

Go to Step 6

  1. If both of the high beam headlamps are inoperative, refer to Headlamps Inoperative - High Beams for diagnosis.
  2. If only the LH high beam headlamp is inoperative, refer to Headlamps Inoperative - Left High Beam for diagnosis.
  3. If only the RH high beam headlamp is inoperative, refer to Headlamps Inoperative - Right High Beam for diagnosis.
  4. If the high beam indicator is inoperative, refer to High Beam Indicator Inoperative for diagnosis.

  1. Press and release the FLASH-TO-PASS switch.
  2. Verify that the FLASH-TO-PASS system operates properly.

Does the FLASH-TO-PASS operate properly?

Go to Step 7

Go to Headlamps Flash to Pass Inoperative

  1. Start the engine.
  2. Place the transmission into any gear besides PARK.
  3. Verify that the daytime running lamps operate properly.

Do the daytime running lamps operate properly?

Go to Step 8

Go to Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) Headlamps Inoperative

  1. Turn the twilight sentinel switch to the ON position.
  2. Use a dark cloth in order to cover the headlamp automatic control ambient light sensor.
  3. Verify that the twilight sentinel system operates properly.
