Caution: Allow sufficient time for the engine to cool before removing the ECT sensor. A hot engine may cause an excessive coolant loss or a personal injury.
Important: If necessary, remove the windscreen wiper motor - Refer to Windscreen Wiper motor, Removal and Installation in Body and Accessories.
Notice: Mask off the intake ports. Accidental entry of foreign objects can cause severe engine damage.
Notice: Apply a non-hardening sealer to the sensor threads prior to installation in order to prevent coolant leaks. Use P/N 1050805 or the equivalent
Notice: Replacement components must be the correct part number for the application. Components requiring the use of the thread locking compound, lubricants, corrosion inhibitors, or sealants are identified in the service procedure. Some replacement components may come with these coatings already applied. Do not use these coatings on components unless specified. These coatings can affect the final torque, which may affect the operation of the component. Use the correct torque specification when installing components in order to avoid damage.
Tighten
Tighten the ECT Sensor to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
