Makes 🢒 Cadillac 🢒 1998 🢒 Catera 🢒 Body and Accessories 🢒 Body Rear End 🢒 Rear Compartment Lid Lock Actuator Replacement

Removal Procedure
  1. Open the rear compartment lid.
  2. Remove the rear compartment lid finish panel. Refer to Compartment Trim and Cargo Net Replacement - Rear
  3. Remove the rear compartment lid manual release handle. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Latch Release Cable Handle Replacement

    4. Object Number: 163219 Size: SH
  4. Remove the rear compartment lid release actuator mounting plate bolts from the lid.

    5. Object Number: 163220 Size: SH
  5. Remove the electrical connector from the rear compartment lid release actuator (1).
  6. Remove the rear compartment lid release actuator rod (2) from the latch .
  7. Remove the rear compartment lid release actuator screws (4) from the mounting plate.
  8. Remove the rear compartment lid release actuator (1).

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 163220 Size: SH
  1. Install the rear compartment lid release actuator (1).
  2. Install the rear compartment lid release acuator screws (4) to the mounting plate.

    3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Tighten
    Tighten the rear compartment lid release actuator screws to 3 N·m (27 lb in).

  3. Install the rear compartment lid actuator rod (2) to the latch.
  4. Install the electrical connector to the rear compartment lid release actuator (1).

    5. Object Number: 163219 Size: SH
  5. Install the rear compartment lid release actuator mounting plate bolts to the lid.

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the rear compartment lid actuator mounting plate bolts to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).

  6. Install the rear compartment lid manual release handle. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Latch Release Cable Handle Replacement
  7. Install the rear compartment lid finish panel. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Inner Panel Trim Replacement
  8. Close the rear compartment lid.
