1. Install the scan tool.
2. Select BRAKE/P-N SW from the cruise control data list.
3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
4. Apply the brake pedal.

Does the scan tool display the specified value?

ACTIVE

With the brake pedal still applied, observe the BRAKE SWITCH parameter on the scan tool.

Does the scan tool display the specified value?

APPLIED

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 6

Replace the cruise control release switch.

Is the replacement complete?

Verify that the cruise control disengages properly.

Replace the stop lamp switch.
