Inspect the front brake lining and sensors for wear, damage to sensors, and sensor wire chafing.

Did you find and repair a problem?

--

  1. Disconnect both the left and the right sensors.
  2. Use a DMM and measure the resistance across both sensor terminals.

Is the resistance reading within the specified value?

OL

Go to Step 4

Replace the sensors that failed the resistance test.

Is the replacement complete?

  1. Locate the right brake pad wear sensor connector
  2. Connect one lead from the DMM to cavity 3 of the connector (harness side, BLK wire).
  3. Connect the other lead to a good ground.
  4. Measure the resistance.

Is the resistance reading within the specified value?

0-2 ohms

Go to Step 6

Test for an open circuit in CKTs BA2 or BA3.

Did you find and repair an open in CKTs BA2 or BA3?

Locate and repair the open ground circuit.

Is the circuit repair complete?

Replace the gauge cluster.

Is the replacement complete?

Verify brake pad wear indicator operation:

  1. Disconnect one of the brake pad wear sensor connectors.
  2. Observe the brake pad wear indicator lamp on the gauge cluster.

Is the indicator lamp ON?
