Insert the ignition key into the ignition and crank the engine.

The starter solenoid clicks and the engine cranks.

Check to see if the battery is undercharged or overcharged.

The battery is properly charged.

The battery is undercharged or overcharged. Refer to Battery Is Undercharged or Overcharged .

Check to see if the charging indicator lamp is illuminated at all times.

  1. The charging indicator lamp operates properly.
  2. The charging indicator lamp turns off immediately after the engine has been started.

The charging indicator lamp is illuminated at all times. Refer to Charge Indicator Always On .

Check to see if the charging indicator lamp operates properly.

  1. The charging indicator lamp operates properly.
  2. When the ignition key is turned ON with the engine OFF, the charging indicator lamp will turn ON and stay ON until the engine has been started, then the charging indicator lamp will turn OFF.

The charging indicator lamp is inoperative. Refer to Charge Indicator Inoperative .
