Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Remove the wiper arms. Refer to Windshield Wiper Arm Replacement in Windshield Wiper/Washer System.
  2. Remove the left and the right side air inlet grilles. Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement in Stationary Windows.
  3. Remove the wiper motor. Refer to Windshield Wiper Motor Replacement in Windshield Wiper/Washer System.
  4. Remove the power brake booster vacuum connection from intake plenum.

  6. Remove the spark plug wiring harness from ignition coil.
  7. Remove the electrical connection from ignition coil.

  8. Object Number: 217286  Size: SH
  9. Remove the bolts from the ignition coil.
  10. Remove the ignition coil.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 217286  Size: SH
  1. Install the ignition coil.
  2. Install the bolts to ignition coil.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Tighten
    Tighten the ignition coil bolts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  4. Install the electrical connection to ignition coil.

  5. Object Number: 217470  Size: SH
  6. Install the spark plug wiring harness to ignition coil.
  7. Install the power brake booster vacuum connection to intake plenum.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the power brake booster vacuum connection until snug. Counter hold fitting while tightening.

  9. Install the wiper motor. Refer to Windshield Wiper Motor Replacement in Windshield Wiper/Washer System.
  10. Install the left and the right side air inlet grilles. Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement in Stationary Windows.
  11. Install the wiper arms. Refer to Windshield Wiper Arm Replacement in Windshield Wiper/Washer System.
