The wheel valve solenoid circuits are supplied with battery power when the ignition switch is in the RUN position. The EBTCM controls the valve functions by rapidly grounding and ungrounding the circuit. This rapid switching provides the desired valve positions to control brake pressure at the wheel.
• | The EBTCM senses a discrepancy such as the following: |
- | Senses an open in the circuit between the EBTCM and the BPMV. |
- | Senses a short to ground in the circuit between the EBTCM and the BPMV. |
- | Senses a short to voltage in the circuit between the EBTCM and the BPMV. |
• | There is a poor connection in the circuit between the EBTCM and BPMV. |
• | There is a malfunctioning solenoid valve. |
• | There is a malfunctioning EBTCM. |
• | A malfunction DTC is stored. |
• | The ABS and the TC indicator lamps are turned on. |
• | The ABS and the TCS are disabled. |
• | The condition for the DTC is no longer present. |
• | The scan tool Clear DTCs function is used. |
• | 100 drive cycles have passed with no DTCs detected. |
The Solenoid Valve Test, located in Special Functions of the scan tool can be used to determine if the solenoid is operating properly. This test can only be performed if the solenoid DTC is not currently set.
Perform a thorough inspection of the wiring. Perform a thorough inspect of the connectors. Failure to carefully and fully inspect the wiring and the connectors may result in misdiagnosis. Misdiagnosis causes part replacement with reappearance of the malfunction.
The number(s) below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.
This step checks for a shorted solenoid or solenoid circuit.
This step checks for a solenoid or solenoid circuit shorted to the BPMV case.
This step checks for a solenoid circuit shorted to another solenoid circuit
