Exhaust Heat Shield Replacement Muffler Pipe

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  2. Object Number: 218534  Size: SH
  3. Remove the heat shield nuts.
  4. Remove the heat shield.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the heat shield.

  2. Object Number: 218534  Size: SH
  3. Install the heat shield nuts.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Tighten
    Tighten the heat shield nuts to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  5. Lower the vehicle.

Exhaust Heat Shield Replacement Tailpipe

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the nut from the driver side rear inner tie rod mount.
  3. Remove the heat shield.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the heat shield.
  2. Install the nut onto the driver side rear inner tie rod mount.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 90 N·m (66 lb lb).

  4. Lower the vehicle.

Exhaust Heat Shield Replacement Resonator

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the rear exhaust section. Refer to Resonator Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 231174  Size: SH
  4. Remove the heat shield nuts (1) from the heat shield (2).
  5. Remove the heat shield.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the heat shield.

  2. Object Number: 231174  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure.   3. Install the heat shield nuts (1) to the heat shield (2).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the heat shield nuts (1) to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  5. Install the rear exhaust section. Refer to Resonator Replacement .
  6. Lower the vehicle.

Removal Procedure

  2. Remove the exhaust mufflers. Refer to Muffler Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 231172  Size: SH
  4. Remove the heat shield nuts (1).
  5. Remove the heat shield.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the heat shield.

  2. Object Number: 231172  Size: SH
  3. Install the heat shield nuts (1).
