System Programming

The system enters the learn mode when the two outside buttons are held down for more than 20 seconds. The rapid flashing of the red lamp confirms the system is in the learn mode. Release the buttons and bring the transmitting garage door opener within the learn mode operating range (3 cm maximum) once the system enters the learn mode. Press the button of the original transmitter to generate that transmitter's frequency. Decide which one of the three channels (buttons) you want to program. Hold down the desired channel (button) on the system control head until you see the red lamp on the control head flash rapidly while still holding the button of the original transmitter. Then, release both the buttons. The system learns and stores the garage door opener signal in a non-volatile memory within 90 seconds. The following actions take place upon being taught the Garage Door Opener (GDO) signal:

    • The system will accurately transmit the signal upon the next switch actuation.
    • The system will activate the applicable GDO receiver.

System Operation

The Garage Door Opener (GDO) system allows the driver to consolidate the functions of up to three individual hand-held transmitters. The garage door opener module has the capability to learn up to three different garage door opener transmitter signals. These signals store in a non-volatile memory. The system control head possesses three buttons. Each button controls one function. It operates the garage door openers and gates. The accessory package controls, by a radio frequency, home/office lighting systems and security systems. The system learns and transmits the frequencies of most current transmitters. The vehicle's battery and charging system power the system. The GDO system operates with no performance degradation over the supply voltage of 9V to 16V. Additionally, the GDO system consistently learns any GDO transmitter signals that originate within a 3 cm (1.18 in) radius around the mirror.

System Components

The Garage Door Opener (GDO) system components include the GDO Module and the control head. Both are located in the rearview mirror assembly on vehicles equipped with option code (UG1). The components of the mirror are not serviceable separately. The entire mirror assembly must be replaced if any component of the GDO system is in need of replacement.
