Waterleak(s) can be corrected without removing the window where accessible. This method applies only to windows. The use of urethane adhesive kit, GM P/N 12346284 or equivalent.

  1. Remove the windshield reveal moldings in the area of the leak(s). Refer to Windshield Reveal Molding Replacement or refer to Rear Window Reveal Molding Replacement
  2. The removal of the following components may be necessary to locate the source of the leak(s):
  3. • The removal of the garnish moldings.
    • The removal of the finishing lace.
  4. Mark the location of the leak(s).
  5. Apply water to the area of the leak(s) while carefully pushing outward on the window in the area of the leak(s) to determine the extent of the leak(s).
  6. Use water to clean any dirt from the outside of the body.
  7. Use water to clean any foreign material from the outside of the body.
  8. Use compressed air to dry the area(s).
  9. Use a sharp knife to trim off the uneven edge of the urethane adhesive material at the leak(s) point.
  10. Use a sharp knife to trim off 75 mm (3 in) to 100 mm (4 in) on both sides of the leak(s) point or beyond the limit of the leak(s) area.
  11. Use black pinchweld primer to prime the affected area.
  12. Allow the pinchweld primer to dry 10 minutes.
  13. Use a flat stick or other suitable tool to spread the urethane adhesive material at the leak(s) point. Ensure that the urethane adhesive material is spread well into the leaking area(s) and well into the joint of the original material to assure a watertight seal along the entire length.
  14. Use a flat stick or other suitable tool to spread additional urethane adhesive material on both sides of the leak(s) point to 75 mm (3 in) to 100 mm (4 in) or beyond the limit of the leak(s) area. Ensure that the urethane adhesive material is spread well into the leaking area(s) and well into the joint of the original material to assure a watertight seal along the entire length.
  15. Spray test with warm or hot water to assure that the leak(s) is corrected. Do NOT run a heavy stream of water directly on the freshly applied urethane adhesive.
  16. Install the reveal molding. Refer to Windshield Reveal Molding Replacement or refer to Rear Window Reveal Molding Replacement
  17. Install all previously removed moldings.
  18. Install all previously removed lace.
