When you replace the driver seat adjuster memory module, you must reprogram the module. The only way to program the driver seat adjuster memory module is by using the scan tool. The following instructions are for programming the driver seat adjuster memory module:

1. Open the driver's door and leave the door open.
2. Install the scan tool.
3. Turn the ignition key to the ON position.
4. Retrieve the system related trouble codes.
5. If one or more trouble codes exist, diagnose and repair the system.
6. Erase the system related trouble code.
7. Initialize the system programming and follow the instructions on the scan tool.
8. Do NOT press any of the manual adjustment switches for the seat or for the outside rear view mirrors.
9. Do NOT press the memory switch or any of the three position switches.

During the programming, the scan tool will display the messages that are described below. Next to each message, a procedure is given. Follow the corresponding procedure when the message is displayed.

When the message PRESS MEMORY KEY & HOLD appears, press and hold the memory key until the scan tool displays RELEASE ALL KEY. If you release the memory key before the scan tool displays RELEASE ALL KEYS, the programming will continue when you again press the memory key.
