Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 242986  Size: SH
  1. Pull up on the lock knob in order to expose the orange tab.
  2. Pry out on the orange tab with a screwdriver in order to release the knob. Discard the orange tab.
  3. Remove the bezel screw.
  4. Remove the bezel from the trim panel.
  5. Pull out on the ashtray to remove the screw.

  7. Working downwards, pry off the assist handle cover using a plastic tool.
  8. Remove the lower screw from underneath the assist handle cover.
  9. Remove the inside door handle bezel by unsnapping.
  10. Remove the inside door handle screw.
  11. Remove the rear door assist handle.

  13. Disconnect the power window switch electrical connection.
  14. Remove the power window switch from the assist handle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 243321  Size: SH
  1. Install the power window switch to the assist handle.
  2. Connect the power window switch electrical connection.

  3. Object Number: 243317  Size: SH
  4. Install the rear door assist handle.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the inside door handle screw.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the door handle screw until fully seated but not stripped.

  8. Install the inside door handle bezel by snapping into place.
  9. Install the lower screw to underneath the assist handle cover.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the assist handle screw until fully seated but not stripped.

  11. Install screw underneath the ashtray.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the assist handle screw until fully seated but not stripped.

  13. Install the bezel to the trim panel.
  14. Install the bezel screw.
  15. Tighten
    Tighten the bezel screw until fully seat but not stripped.

  16. Install the lock knob
  17. Insert the new orange tab into the slot.
  18. Push the knob into position.
