Was the Heated Mirrors System Check performed?

  1. Remove fuse #11.
  2. Turn the rear window defogger switch ON
  3. Use the DMM to measure the voltage between the input side of fuse #11 and a known good ground.

Is the measured voltage within the specified value?

B+

Go to Step 4

  1. Locate an open or a high resistance in circuit FM10.
  2. Repair the open or the high resistance in circuit FM10.
  3. Replace the heated outside rear view mirror and rear window defogger relay if circuit FM10 is OK.

Is the repair and/or replacement complete?

--

Go to Step 9

  1. Install fuse #11.
  2. Disconnect connector C500.
  3. Also disconnect connector C600.
  4. Press the window defogger and heated mirrors switch.
  5. Use the DMM to measure the voltage between terminal 19 of both C500 and C600 and a known good ground.

Is the measured voltage within the specified value?

B+

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 5

  1. Locate an open or a high resistance in circuits FM10, FM22 and/or FM100.
  2. Repair the open or the high resistance in circuits FM10, FM22 and/or FM100.

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to Step 9

Use the DMM to measure the resistance between terminal 1 of both C500 and C600 and a known good ground.

Is the measured resistance less than the specified value?

5 ohms

Go to Step 8

  1. Locate an open or a high resistance in circuits F8 and/or F9.
  2. Repair the open or the high resistance in circuits F8 and/or F9.

Is the repair complete?

Replace the LH and RH outside rear view mirrors. Refer to Power Mirror Replacement in Doors.

Is the replacement complete?

  1. Connect all connectors and components that were disconnected.
  2. Verify that the LH and RH outside rear view heated mirrors operate properly.

Do the LH and RH outside rear view heated mirrors operate properly?

  2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  3. Press the rear window defogger switch ON.
  4. Use the DMM to measure the voltage between terminal 19 of connector C500 and a known good ground.

Is the measured voltage within the specified value?

B+

Go to Step 4

  1. Locate an open or a high resistance in circuit FM10.
  2. Repair the open or the high resistance in circuit FM10.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Connect connector C500.
  2. Disconnect the LH outside rear view mirror connector.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  4. Press the rear window defogger switch ON.
  5. Use the DMM to measure the voltage between terminal 8 of the LH outside rear view mirror connector and a known good ground.

Is the measured voltage within the specified value?

B+

Go to Step 6

  1. Locate an open or a high resistance in circuits FM2 and/or FM15.
  2. Repair the open or the high resistance in circuits FM2 and/or FM15.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 9

Use the DMM to measure the resistance between terminal 9 of the LH outside rear view mirror connector and a good ground.

Is the measured resistance within the specified value?

Less than 5 ohms

Go to Step 8

  1. Locate an open or a high resistance in circuits F2 and/or F50.
  2. Repair the open or the high resistance in circuits F2 and/or F50.

Is the repair complete?

Replace the LH outside rear view heated mirror. Refer to Power Mirror Replacement in Doors.

Is the replacement complete?

  1. Connect all the connectors and components that were disconnected.
  2. Cycle the ignition switch from the OFF position to the ON position.
  3. Press the rear window defogger switch ON.

Does the LH outside rear view heated mirror operate properly?

  1. Disconnect connector C600.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  3. Press the rear window defogger switch ON.
  4. Use the DMM to measure the voltage between terminal 19 of connector C600 and a known good ground.

Is the measured voltage within the specified value?

B+

Go to Step 4

  1. Locate an open or a high resistance in circuit FM22.
  2. Repair the open or the high resistance in circuit FM22.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Connect connector C600.
  2. Disconnect the RH outside rear view mirror connector.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  4. Press the rear window defogger switch ON.
  5. Use the DMM to measure the voltage between terminal 8 of the RH outside rear view mirror connector and a known good ground.

Is the measured voltage within the specified value?

B+

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 5

  1. Locate an open or a high resistance in circuits FM2 and/or FM20.
  2. Repair the open or the high resistance in circuits FM2 and/or FM20.

Is the repair complete?

Use the DMM to measure the resistance between terminal 9 of the RH outside rear view mirror connector and a known good ground.

Is the measured resistance within the specified range?

Less than 5 ohms

Go to Step 8

  1. Locate an open or a high resistance in circuits F2 and/or F55.
  2. Repair the open or the high resistance in circuits F2 and/or F55.

Is the repair complete?
