Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 159730  Size: SH
  1. Remove the accelerator cable retaining clip (3) from the accelerator cable.
  2. Remove the accelerator cable (2) from the throttle linkage shaft.
  3. Remove the cruise control cable retaining clip (1) from the throttle linkage shaft.
  4. Remove the cruise control cable from the throttle lever.
  5. Remove the throttle linkage bracket bolts at the intake plenum.

  7. Slightly pull away the bracket from the plenum in order to access the cable locking lugs.
  8. Depress the cable lugs in order to remove the cruise control cable housing from the bracket.

  10. Remove the cruise control cable from the heater hose clip (2).

  11. Object Number: 439337  Size: SH
  12. Twist the cruise control cable guide tube 1/4 turn counterclockwise in order to remove from the actuator.

  13. Object Number: 159738  Size: SH
  14. Remove the cruise control cable end from the actuator ribbon being careful not to twist the ribbon.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 159738  Size: SH
  1. Install the cruise control cable end to the actuator ribbon being careful not to twist the ribbon.

  2. Object Number: 439331  Size: SH
  3. Twist the cruise control cable guide tube 1/4 turn clockwise in order to install to the actuator.

  4. Object Number: 159733  Size: SH
  5. Install the cruise control cable to the heater hose clip (2).
  6. Install the throttle linkage bracket to the plenum.
  7. Install the throttle linkage bracket bolts.
  8. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  9. Firmly seat the cruise control cable housing into the bracket, ensuring that the lugs expand in the bracket.

  10. Object Number: 159730  Size: SH
  11. Install the cruise control cable to the throttle linkage shaft.
  12. Install the cruise control cable retaining clip (1) to the throttle linkage shaft.
  13. Install the accelerator cable (2) to the throttle linkage shaft.
  14. Install the accelerator cable retaining clip (3) to the accelerator cable.
  15. Adjust the cruise control cable. Refer to Cruise Control Cable Adjustment in this section.
