Turn the ignition switch to the ON position (II) to activate the bulb test. To check the operation of all the bulbs, it is necessary to cycle the ignition OFF and ON several times or more to complete this test .

  1. Airbag indicator lamp illuminates for 4 seconds.
  2. Antilock Brake indicator lamp illuminates for 4 seconds.
  3. Brake Pad Wear indicator lamp illuminates for 4 seconds.
  4. Coolant Temperature Gauge indicates current engine temperature.
  5. Automatic Transmission indicator lamp illuminates for 4 seconds.
  6. Automatic Transmission Malfunction indicator lamp illuminates for 4 seconds.
  7. CHECK ENGINE lamp is ON.
  8. Fasten Seat Belt indicator lamp is ON. After 4 seconds the indicator lamp will flash.
  9. Fuel Gauge indicates current fuel level.
  10. Coolant Temperature warning lamp illuminates for 4 seconds.
  11. Low Oil Level indicator lamp illuminates for 4 seconds.
  12. Low Fuel warning lamp illuminates for 4 seconds.
  13. Low Coolant level indicator lamp illuminates for 4 seconds.
  14. Low Washer Fluid indicator lamp illuminates for 4 seconds.
  15. Oil Pressure indicator lamp is ON.
  16. Charging indicator lamp is ON.
  17. BRAKE TO SHIFT indicator lamp is ON.

Do all the warning indicator lamps illuminate?

  1. Turn ON the ignition switch.
  2. First operate the LH turn signal then the RH turn signal.

Do the LH and the RH turn indicators flash?

  1. Turn ON the ignition switch.
  2. Pull the turn signal lever towards you to activate FLASH TO PASS.

Does the High Beam indicator illuminate?

  1. Turn ON the ignition switch.
  2. Apply the Park Brake.

Does the BRAKE indicator illuminate?

  1. Turn ON the ignition switch.
  2. Turn the headlamps or parklamps ON and adjust the dimming control.

Does the instrument cluster illumination vary with the dimmer control?

Start the engine and let it idle. The Airbag indicator is ON (not flashing) during the crank mode. After the engine has started the indicator is ON for 4 seconds then goes OFF.

Does the Airbag indicator operate properly?

Observe the oil pressure gauge with the engine still idling.

Does the gauge read approximately 20 psi?

Open the rear compartment lid.

Does the rear compartment lid indicator illuminate?

  1. Connect the scan tool to the data Link connector (DLC).
  2. Turn ON the ignition switch.
  3. Select INSTRUMENT CLUSTER from the menu.
  4. Attempt to establish communication with the instrument cluster.

Does the scan tool communicate with the instrument cluster?

Refer to Diagnostic Aids of the DTC that is displayed. Try performing the test shown while moving wiring harnesses and connectors. This often can cause the malfunction to occur.

Was a problem found and repaired?
