Did you perform the Interior Lights Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Disconnect the IP compartment lamp.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  3. Use a DMM in order to measure the voltage between terminal A of the IP compartment lamp connector and a known good ground.

Does the voltage measure near the specified value?

B+

Go to Step  3

Use the DMM in order to measure the resistance between terminal B of the IP compartment lamp and a known good ground.

Does the resistance measure near the specified value?

Less than 5ohms

Go to Step 5

  1. Install the IP compartment lamp.
  2. Remove the IP compartment lamp switch.

    3. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

  3. Connect a fused jumper between terminals A and B of the IP compartment lamp switch connector.

Does the IP compartment lamp turn ON?

Replace the IP compartment lamp. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.

Replace the IP compartment lamp switch. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.

  1. Locate an open or a high resistance in CKT AP802.
  2. Repair the open or the high resistance in CKT AP802

Use the DMM in order to measure the resistance between terminal A of the IP compartment lamp switch connector and a known good ground.

Does the resistance measure near the specified value?

Less than 5 ohms

Go to Step  9

Use the DMM in order to measure the resistance between terminal B of the IP compartment lamp connector and terminal B of the IP compartment lamp switch connector.

Does the resistance measure near the specified value?

Less than 5 ohms

Go to Step  12

  1. Locate an open or a high resistance in CKT F71.
  2. Repair the open or the high resistance in CKT F71.

  1. Locate an open or a high resistance in CKT F72.
  2. Repair the open or the high resistance in CKT F72.

  1. Connect all connectors and components that were previously disconnected.
