Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Use a transmission jack to support the rear differential.
- Scribe a reference mark on the vehicle body around the perimeter
of the rear axle cradle mount to ensure proper re-installation.
- Remove the bolt which
secures the rear axle cradle mount to the vehicle body.
- Slightly lower the rear axle cradle.
- Remove the protective shield from the rear axle cradle mount.
- Remove the bolt which secures the rear axle cradle mount to the
rear axle cradle.
- Remove the rear axle cradle mount.
Installation Procedure
- Install the rear axle
cradle mount.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the bolt
which secures the rear axle cradle mount to the rear axle cradle.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 100 N·m (74 lb ft).
- Install the protective shield to the rear axle cradle mount.
- Raise the rear axle cradle into place.
- Align the rear axle cradle mounts to the reference marks which
you scribed during the removal procedure.
- Install the bolt which secures the rear axle cradle mount to the
vehicle body.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 65 N·m (48 lb ft).
- Remove transmission jack.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Adjust the rear toe to specifications. Refer to
Rear Toe Adjustment
in Wheel Alignment.
