Removal Procedure

Tools Required

J 6627-A Tie Rod/Wheel Stud Puller

    Caution: To help avoid personal injury when a vehicle is on a hoist, provide additional support for the vehicle at the opposite end from which components are being removed. This will reduce the possibility of the vehicle falling off the hoist.

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  2. Object Number: 205660  Size: SH
  3. Remove the bolt which secures the stabilizer shaft link to the rear lower control arm.
  4. Remove the link from the rear lower control arm.

  5. Object Number: 205671  Size: SH
  6. Lubricate the stabilizer shaft end liberally with silicone spray.
  7. Shim J 6627-A if the rubber bushing starts to pull out of the link.
  8. Use J 6627-A in order to press off the link from the stabilizer shaft.

Installation Procedure

  1. Clean the stabilizer shaft/link mating surface in order to allow for easier installation and to protect the bushings from damage.
  2. Lubricate the stabilizer shaft with silicone spray.

  3. Object Number: 205660  Size: SH
  4. Install the link to the stabilizer shaft.
  5. Install the link to the rear lower control arm.
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the link bolt.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the link bolt to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  9. Lower the vehicle.
